SIX SCENTS

Wanna know the #musthave fragrances this season? Six Scents has the answer!

As the owner of NYC designer fashion boutique Seven New York, Joseph Quartana spends his days among an impressive hand-curated selection of designers (including Bernhard Wilhelm, Daniel Palillo, Raphael Young, Giuliano Fujiwara and Juun J). Not content to exist in a purely visual bubble, his world is shaped by the collaborative talents who inspire him.

Enter Six Scents, Quartana’s conceptual perfumery, which will launch its fourth series in early 2012. “Every year, we put out six fragrances conceived by designers who are influential enough that they should have a fragrance, but not big enough that they can or do”, he says, “We allow these stars of the future to express themselves through scent now.”

The result? Captivating scents from designers like Mary Katrantzou, Ohne Titel, Gareth Pugh, Henrik Vibskov and Rad Hourani, who used leather, violet and eyebrow raising notes of semen [check out the current series three for more!].

You can sense the trust and pride Quartana places in these designers from his initial direction: “Do whatever you want. Make it interesting”. They clearly do, as series three recently won a prestigious Fifi Award for Best Indie Fragrance of the Year.

We may have gotten high breathing in bottle after bottle of the uncommon Six Scents elixirs, but not high enough to spill any of Quartana’s co-conspirators for series four, which will hit stores around February. There mayyy be a hint hidden within this text, but we’d never tell… and especially if you usually smell like cinnamon rolls or baby powder. Take note!
