ART: SEYCHELLE ALLAH

Whether it’s blood-letting on his own surreal, #POPCULT creations, or blogging Simpsons’ porn as 50% of notorious Internet art duo ‘Space Slave Trade’, it’s fair to say that Seychelle Allah is an artist existing quite literally in a world of his own. Expect your expectations to be twisted, chewed up and spat out through the skewed canvas of Seychelle’s eye…

CM: Hi!

SA: smiley face smiley face on me

CM: So what was the inspiration behind the DISNEIDEEP spread you made for us?

SA: 2011 entire accidental theories

SA: everything this year is that disney fist swinging at the end of a ball and chain

SA: spermheads choked in the mickey mouse glove

CM: What kind of vibe did you want people to get from it?

SA: I CANT EVEN SEE A PERSON FROM WHERE I AM

SA: the feeling is like that hollow breast shaped cog thing everybody is on. its picking up the phone on the otherside with the othernumber in the otherplace and the dialtone eternally on some “imma needle your ear no matter what” stuff”

SA: and youre trying to kick a hole in the chrysalis but the walls are made out of cemented wolverine skeleton

SA: the xenowomb

CM: That’s pretty intense. Do those kind of thoughts/themes/FEELINGS run through a lot of your work?

SA: yes high speed isolation is a recurring theme

CM: Isolation? Interesting – Is that from a personal IRL kinda angle at all?

SA: its in the family/column of personals

CM: Along with…?

SA: prayers and typos. my brain is at dangerous level haunted by the fantasy of choking nick cannon with a bag full of rubber ducks.

CM: You made an appearance in [NY-based designer] TELFAR’s casting video – are you a fan of fashion?

SA: i was sick that day and did a zygote twist on my ankle right before. it was fun

SA: i’m interested, but not particularly far beyond the “everything is always possible and it should be done” feeling

CM: You also worked on the visuals for the DIS ‘Thinspiration’ art/music video… would video be something you want to break into more in the future?

SA: yes definitely, im in preproduction for a video project im starting soon, mixing live action and animations – cool world shit.

SA: i have people in mind to participate. secret people, imaginary…

CM: In addition to THAT you’re also half of the notorious online art duo Space Slave Trade – is it true that the project got started when you got kicked off Facebook for posting ‘inappropriate’ images?

SA: yeah thats true, i didnt even leave a note (rude)

SA: space slave trade was originally an email thread after i got facialed. it turned into a blog and then into a collaborative project collective duo situation

CM: The Space Slave Trade blog is great – kawaii and sick and woahhh all at once.

SA: the main intention of the blog was to open source our creative process… psychic feeding tube full of cat hormones and bullet holes. as a collaborative venture it has a future but not as a blog

CM: With SST, and your own work, there’s a lot of pornographic/hentai content – what is it about that kind of aesthetic that you’re drawn to, as an artist?

SA: the inversion of it generally. i see everything upside down before any relationship with content can begin. putting pillowcases at the tip of every fang, and the snake looking up giggling

SA: collapsibility of terror, bliss and everything.

CM: So out of all the pieces you’ve done to date, which of them would you say really captures that concept of inverted meaning creating a relationship with content?

SA: i made a piece called ‘vo’ recently – i passed out when i finished it from bloodletting on it. a real farewell 2 the flesh feeling

CM: Wow, it seems like you really throw yourself into your work – do you have a really intensive kind of process?

SA: dangerous level intense

SA: inner footsteps on challenge mode ddr

CM: How do you typically put a piece together?

SA: hypeslither through the innards of the infinite edged sword/ cute feet ribboned and doing a ballet inside the engine of it

SA: it’s nauseating ^_^

SA: drinking the yolk out of a smileyface

CM: And finally – where do you want to go with your art in the 4utur3?

SA: the arcade, when i make enough coins

SA: i want to do bigger projects, like something straight to dvd & bluray. a chernobyl remix

SA: more ed hardy and a personal trainer

SA: or someone that can train me to be a cloud with big eyes…
