Peace are a young band of brothers (literally), with a their catchy, offbeat sound they describe as, “techno with guitars and drums” (who would’ve thought it possible?!). With the band currently touring the UK, WORLD PEACE IS FINALLY ON IT’S WAY.
SS: Do you ever have problems working together, being fam’ly and all? Is it like Hanson all over again?
P: Definitely. Like, super-violence is the only way we settle anything.
SS: You’re currently working a micro-tour of the UK, how’s that going?
P: Very nice. Every day is a champagne and lobster day for Peace.
SS: What’s your best story from the road?
P: We bumped into 50 cent in a service station & he showed us his bullet wounds..
SS: I saw on Twitter recently that you had equipment stolen from your van…
P: Yeah, they stole loads. It’s not a nice start to the tour, but at least some nutters in Hackney have some awesome stuff to jam with.
SS: You play a lot of live shows. I like that. What are your shows like?
P: We like that. Live is the shit. We push it as far as we can. If we had more money, we don’t know how far it would go. How far can it go? We’ve got some Marine safety flares that we’re waiting to bust out.
SS: So, you’re called ‘Peace’ but your first single is called ‘Bblood’ – are contradictions Peace’s ‘thing’?
P: Yes and no.
SS: ‘Bblood’ is the only song you’ve got out online, but you’re already generating a pretty sizeable hype online… how’d you work that?
P: We don’t really know. We put it on YouTube and then made our friends watch it and stuff & we don’t know.
SS: What kind of vibe are you going for in your sound?
P: It’s a hodge-podge of everything. We really wanted to just make techno with guitars and drums…
SS: Can we expect a Peace full-length at any point?
P: It would be nice, right? We’re just writing stuff and playing shows, and trying to smash life.
SS: What do you think 2012 is going to bring? (World… Peace?)
P: Definitely – and the rise and fall of Kid Vicious. He’s a kid in Birmingham who’s like, Hendrix ridiculous. 2012 will be a good year for the kid.
